“Well boys, ya ready?”
I stared out the window of the van, resting my hands on my face, letting out an inaudible sigh as my eyes lingered at the sight of vans waiting outside the studio eagerly. I really wasn’t up for this today.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the fans and I’m definetley not complaining about the lifestyle.
I was just getting lonely.
Harry, Liam, Zayn and Louis all had girls.
Louis was still dating Hannah, of course. We all knew that someday they’re going to get married.
Harry was dating..well, who even know. He had SO many girls, famous and fans falling at his feet. It got really tiresome how cocky he was starting to get because of all the attention.
Zayn was seeing Rebecca. We constantly teased him about it, but truth was he was happy as could be and thats all that really mattered.
Then there was Liam and Danielle. All of us hated her stuck up, bitchy attitude but we didn’t say anything. Liam thought she was something out of this world, and looked at her as though she was the most beautiful girl in the world. Though I wasn’t sure what he saw in her.
Running my fingers through my blonde locks, I crouched down as Louis opened the van door. The loud screaming hit my eyes almost instantly and I flinched at the high pitched squeals. I was starting to get a fucking headache already. Plastering on a fake smile, I stepped out after Harry, who was waving with a big cocky grin on his face as girls began to reach for him. I tried my hardest to focus on something else so I wouldn’t roll my eyes. But Stockholm was just like it always was. Louis and Harry getting all the attention while Zayn, Liam and I stood there awkwardly, talking to the occasional fan who would come to get a picture with us or say hi. It got really boring after it happening a million times. Especially when you had to just watch them soak up every little minute of it. I loved them both, I really did. But they weren’t the only ones a part of One Direciton. All of us were. Who cares of Harry as Simon’s favorite? It doesn’t mean he was better than the rest of us!
I quickly stared at the ground, trying to shake off my thoughts. I guess everything was just really starting to get to me..
Liam nudged me. “It’s almost noon, mate. We need to get inside and start recording.”
“And lord knows how long it will take to pull these two away from their entourage.” I mumbled back to Liam.
He cracked a smile. It was obvious I wasn’t the only one getting sick of it.
“I’ll handle it.” Liam replied, walking over to them. Zayn and I started in for the studio. We weren’t stopped once to be talked to or get a picture.
Walking into our assigned room number, I plopped down on a chair, letting out a sigh. Zayn was too busy texting on his phone. Probably to Rebecca, since he looked very concentrated.
Mimicking his actions, I pulled out my phone and opened a new message to Twitter.
@NiallOfficial time for sum more recording..hopefully getting pizza later? :) x
My stomach grumbled as I sent the message and I couldn’t help but crack a little smile at what the fans were thinking about my constant tweeting about food. Hey, I couldn’t help it. I was a teenage boy.
It was almost 10 minutes later when Liam walked in with Louis and Harry who were goofing around. Liam didn’t look pleased at all, especially when he saw our tech person and the assistant Simon assigned us were nowhere to be found.
“Fuck this. We always have to wait around for them.” Liam cursed under his breath. Liam was such an on time guy. He’s the one that kept us in check, but I wasn’t in the mood for it today, so I shoved my face in the pillow on the couch.
“Oh c’mon. This doesn’t look too hard.” Louis said, walking over to the sound board.
“Lou, don’t touch that.” Liam scowled, watching him like a hawk as his fingers moved towards the thousands of colored buttons.
He put a pair of the expensive headphones on his ears, ignoring Liam’s warning as he slid a dial all the way up, causing an extremely loud pitched noise to escape the speakers.
“GOD DAMMIT, LOUIS! TURN IT OFF!” I roared, gritting my teeth together.
Louis, looking nervous, began touching buttons all over, but only made the sound worse.
The tech guy just then walked through the door, over to the sound board, calm as could be, and flipped a switch, causing the irritating noise to stop.
Louis gave a sheepish smile. “Errr..sorry.” he apologized.
The sound board control man said nothing, just shook his head and sat down in his chair.
“Louis Tomlinson, what the hell did we just talk about last night?”
I turned my head to see our assistant Valerie standing in the door way. I couldn’t help but smile slightly at the sight of her. She was Simon Cowell’s niece and was trying to make it into the music producing industry like her uncle. He had assigned her to spend the summer with us recording our album and going on tour. We had just met her two weeks ago and it was already like she was part of the family.
“Sorry Val.” he said, sticking his tongue out at the girl.
Valerie stuck her tongue back out, letting out a laugh.
“You know I’m not going to be as strict as my uncle, but PLEASE try not to ruin any of the equipment we need to finish this song, okay?” She asked, patting his back with a small smile.
Thats the thing I absolutley loved about Valerie. She was so calm and cool and was so easy to get along with. She didn’t treat us like we were children (even though we were all older than her…) and she was just like a good friend.
I watched her beautiful brown hair sway along her back as she walked over to the sound guy, beginning to talk to him in a low voice with an intent look on her face. My eyes quickly traveled along her body, memorizing her every curve in the tight fitting dress. My gaze stopped for a moment at her butt that was just about to peek out of the bottom of her seam line as she bent over to pick up the headphones Louis had threw at the annoying sound.
I felt another nudge and turned to see Harry, raising his eyebrows at me with a smirk.
“What?” I asked, slightly irritated.
“Don’t what me. You know what you were doing.”
I rolled my eyes, trying to hold back a smile as Zayn let out a laugh, winking at me from across the room.
Valerie spun around and we all quickly looked at her as she clapped her hands together.
“Okay! Well, now that we’ve cleaned up Lou’s wittle mess, YET again..”
I let out a laugh and Val flashed her dazzling smile at me. I felt my heat race.
“We’re gonna finish this new song. Liam, I believe you have the lyrics that I gave you to hang on to yesterday?”
Liam nodded, opening his bag, pulling them out. “Right here.”
“Aweeeesoooome!” she sang, letting out a small giggle.
I grinned. It was crazy how one person could turn my mood around 180 degrees.
And I had barley known her for more than a couple weeks.
“Right, well, we only have the studio for a couple hours, and we were on I think the third verse? So we’re almost done. And then were leaving Stockholm for London tomorrow, where we’ll wrap the albums two last songs with Simon.”
We all nodded very seriously. Valerie was a fun, friendly girl most of the time. But when she meant business, you better learn to take direction and shut up when she was talking.
“Okay, get into that recording booth! Lets go go go!”
“AYE AYE, CAPTAIN!” Harry yelled, saluting her as he ran in. Valerie laughed and watched him and I felt my stomach twist and rage with jealousy, following the boys in. My mood was right back where it started.
“GO GET IN THE VAN, NOW!”
Louis and Harry chuckled, running outside. As the doors open, screamed erupted once more. Val threw her hands up in defeat, letting out a loud sigh, sitting down on the steps. I frowned, watching her put her face in her hands. Louis and Harry had been total dicks the whole day. They kept texting while we were recording, messing up the lines on purpose and just now they had broken a vase of flowers by playing catch with it. Liam bit his lip, looking down at Valerie, then to me. He nodded and headed outside. I was now alone with her.
Sitting down next to the distressed girl, I put my arm around her. “Hey, don’t worry about those two baboons. They think they constantly need to be funny. It’s like being serious isn’t in their nature.” I said, rubbing her back slightly. Valerie sniffled, and I could tell by looking into her grey-blue eyes she was holding back tears.
“I just feel like I’m completely failing at this whole music business thing, ya know?”
“No!” I protested, turning her to face me directly. “Listen to me, Val. You’re doing an amazing job. We all respect and like you alot. You don’t treat us like we’re dumb and you’re always there for a good laugh. You get things done on time and you’re only fifteen and doing all this! Thats..well thats amazing.”
My palms began to sweat nervously. I sounded like a complete fool.
Suddenly, Val grinned, staring into my eyes. “Oh, Niall. You’ve always been my favorite.” she replied, throwing her arms around me, embracing me in a tight hug.
I was a bit taken back at first, but I wrapped my arms around her regardless, letting out a soft laugh.
“Now that can’t be true.” I said into her ear, taking in the scent of the wonderful smelling shampoo in her hair. “Harry and Louis is EVERYONE’S favorite.”
Val pulled away from the hug to look into my eyes again. She had a very serious look on her face. I knew she meant buisness.
“No, Niall. I mean it. Even before I knew you guys, you had always been my favorite. Even when you were in the Judge’s House on X Factor. You always seemed the most appealing to me. Funny, nice, always hungry…”
I laughed again, though a prickle of embarrassment hit my cheeks, turning them slightly pink.
“And cute too.”
My heart leapt up into my throat and I was tongue tied. All I could do was grin.
“Well, I…err..” I stumbled over my words.
It was her turn to let out a small giggle, making me feel like an idiot.
“I think you’re really cute too.” I finally stammered, grinning sheepishly.
Our eyes locked. I knew she wouldn’t make the first move, so it was up to me.
Leaning in slowly, I brushed my lips against hers quickly, then pulled away to see her reaction. She still had her eyes closed, and wore a small smile on her face.
“Why did you stop?” she whispered, smiling bigger.
Grinning as my stomach began to do back flips, I leaned in and kissed her deeply, sliding my fingers up into her hair, holding her close to me.
Her lips pulled away from mine, almost too soon. I was yurning for more.
“We should get out to the van, eh?” She asked, standing up, brushing the front of her dress off.
I frowned. “That’s it? We’re not..”
She cut me off. “Who said that was it? I said we should get back to the bus. Besides..if you want more, you have to take me out on a proper date.” Val said mischievously, raising her eyebrow with a laugh.
I laughed too, smacking her ass quickly as she walked in front of me.
“NIALL!” She squealed, turning around to hit my chest.
“WHAT? I couldn’t help it! It was staring at me all day!” I confessed with a smirk, kissing her cheek.
Valerie rolled her eyes. “Well, you’re going to make up to it by taking me to get some dinner. Like I said…I’m not easy.”
Oh great..I wasn’t going to get further tonight.
“Plus I’m starving.” she said with a smile and a wink.
With that, she walked out of the doors and into the crowd of girls, heading to the van where the rest of the group was waiting for us.
All I could do was stand there smiling like an idiot, watching her every move, taking in her beauty.
My mood had gone from bad, to better, to worse, and finally to walking on sunshine.
My phone vibrated in my pocket and I pulled it out.
i was thinking more along the lines of chinese..pizza is overrated ;) xx -val
I laughed to myself, shoving my phone back into my pocket.Maybe I wasn’t going to be so lonely anymore. I had found a gorgeous, caring, hilarious girl that seemed to be really into me. I could hardly contain my happiness.
Plus she wanted to go out for food with me.
But that only sweetened the deal.
